The rain does not fall on only one roof. - Cameroon
proverb
There are always different events, retreats, and other activities worth keeping an eye on... this below is a selected list of the ones I support, endorse, and often participate in. Living Vision Retreat - Sep 28/30 2007 - Vancouver LIVING VISION is an intentional community convergence of like-hearted visionaries, artists, and healers extending their gifts and talents in the spirit of co-creative expression and child-like wonder. The community exists to inspire, support and encourage the emergence of our greatest expression and the legacy of joy that its extension brings into the world. From the BEingness of community, possibilities inherent in our collective human spirit emerge and take flight. During the weekend, the community is offering a wide variety of intentional playshops, presentations, ceremonies, healing sessions, and celebrations including some incredible tribal energy, music, dance and performance. This event is an incredible weekend of explorations, celebration, connections, and magic. Check out for more details on the retreat website. Waking Up the West Coast About the book Waking Up the West Coast is a visually-compelling eco-friendly book that celebrates the insight and wisdom of 118 leading holistic health practitioners, sustainability experts, social entrepreneurs, educators, artists and advocates based in British Columbia, Canada. The province of British Columbia is a hot-bed of talent and progressive ideas - people all over the world have, and continue to look to BC for inspiration and leadership in sustainability, health and activism – and now for the first time you can find a hand-picked selection of some of BC’s most exciting individuals, organizations and companies celebrated all in one place. This book is a fabulous resource to have around. For further details about the book and the project by Jamie Kowal, check out Catalyst Publications. Destiny Retreat - March 2007 - Costa Rica Just imagine - a serene tropical paradise in the jungle of Costa Rica. A small group of people, with a few experienced facilitators, 10 days focused exclusively on you, your individual and collective well-being. An eclectic combination of activities, experiences, adventures, and celebrations focused on embracing and engaging your body, mind, and spirit. A unique opportunity to relax, rejuvenate, re-energize, and reconnect with your self and nature. This cultural, humanistic, and spiritual retreat is a unique way to experience Costa Rica and its people. Amidst the many diverse activities within the retreat space itself, we also spend time and effort connecting with, and supporting, the local Costa Rican communities. The specific focus for this year is the village of San Juanillo at the Nacoya Peninsula, where we visit a local school with children from many poor families. We bring clothes, books, and school supplies; even more so, we spend time with these children, playing games and teaching each other English and Spanish. Marise Fennell and James Beaufait are the original visioneers and creators of this retreat, and this is the second year it is happening. In 2006, there were many different activities and celebrations - from morning yoga and movement/dance, to a variety of inquiries into one's inner self, to salsa and belly-dancing lessons, to collaboration and cultural immersion with the local villages, to mask-making workshops, to exploring the nature of Costa Rica, and a lot more. This photo gallery shows some of these moments. Due to the immense success of this retreat, it is happening again; the dates are March 2 to March 11, 2007. If you are interested in knowing more about it, please drop me a note, or visit the retreat website for full details.
